Sharing Grace. Inspiring Faith. Shaping Futures
Hey there! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I’m so glad you’ve stopped by.
I’m Debbie Farthing, but you can call me Debbs, a nickname that snagged my heart several years back and honestly, I love it. It’s tied to this incredible promise God made to me—something I share more about in my book.
I’ve been lucky enough to do life with my awesome husband, Bill, for over thirty years now. What a ride it’s been—full of love, challenges, and lots of growth. When we decided to follow the Lord back in ’95, everything changed for us. It was like flipping a switch that lit up our path with faith, service, and heaps of grace.
We’re blessed with an incredible son, Aaron, who is the best parts of both of us. Right now, he is excelling as an executive leader in the business world. Our amazing daughter-in-love, Bekah, is rocking motherhood and works alongside me in ministry, pouring her heart into everything she does. Then there’s Ruth, our granddaughter, who’s the absolute joy of our lives. Her giggles? They’re pure magic, making every day a little brighter.
So, a bit about me—I’m an ordained minister, speaker, and podcast host with a serious love for sharing God’s truth and uplifting others. I’ve spent the last three decades dedicated to empowering women and guiding them through life’s toughest challenges. Education-wise, I’ve got a degree in biblical education, certifications in coaching, biblical counseling, trauma recovery, and leadership. I also trained as a nurse, and though I’m not practicing anymore, my skills have deeply influenced my work, providing a foundation of empathy and care to how I guide and support others.
I’ve been privileged to play a key role in founding Sisterhood in the USA at Futures Church, and currently love serving as the Women’s Pastor and Director of Sisterhood at our Gwinnett Campus in Atlanta.
Bill and I founded BDA Development Ministries, also known as Better Days Ahead, a non-profit aimed at supporting churches, equipping leaders, and helping others. Our mission stems from a deep-seated belief in the potential for personal and communal transformation. By creating content and programs that encourage personal growth, connection with God, and empowered service, we aim to manifest the promise of better days ahead for all.
One avenue for doing this is through my podcast, First and Main.Together with my co-host, Lauren, and dear friends, we share personal stories, bits of wisdom and biblical principles that help you live a God-first life. The fact that we’re reaching listeners in over 15 countries has been nothing short of amazing!
When I’m not juggling all that, I cherish time spent with my family and friends, discovering new places, enjoying good food, and, of course, doting over sweet Ruthie. My mission is pretty simple: to inspire and support others on their faith-driven journey towards a life well-lived. So, here I am, an open book, eager to share, learn, and grow together.
I hope you’ll dive into my book and discover inspiration for your own journey. Here’s to learning how to navigate through life’s ups and downs and finding beauty and joy in the everyday.
Welcome to my world!
Debbs
About BDA Development Ministries
Supporting Churches. Equipping Leaders. Helping Others.
BDA Development Ministries is committed to transforming churches and organizations into trauma-informed communities of faith. Recognizing that traumas from the past and present significantly hinder spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical wellness, we aim to arm these communities with the necessary tools and insights for healing and growth. Our team, consisting of over 20 passionate professionals, brings a wealth of diverse qualifications and extensive experience to guide and support communities through this transformative journey.
We provide a proven framework alongside Biblically-based strategies to establish a culture of trauma-informed care. This includes a comprehensive training program for caregivers and leaders, resources for ongoing support, and opportunities for collaboration to enhance the community’s capability to address trauma effectively. Through these efforts, BDA ensures that individuals facing challenges receive the hope, healing, and supportive environment they desperately need.
The impact of our mission is observed in the fortified capacity of churches and organizations to act as pillars of support and sources of unconditional love. Communities are equipped not only to comprehend the complexities of trauma but also to create environments where paths to healing are initiated and nurtured.
